The 2000 Millenium monument.
The CCTV building.
But today's prize is Beijing's TV tower.
It is 242m tall, with an open observation deck at 238m and a rotating restaurant at 221m.

But before that, right at the base of the tower is the Taipingyang Underwater World Exhibition (ie. Aquarium)
One of their "cute" performances is a mermaid show.
Watching the fish, manta rays, or even the mermaids from this underwater tunnel is pretty cool. You get the see the undersides of a manta ray as it skims by.
Here is a rather basic seal show.

The other big attraction other than the mermaids is the shark feeding demonstration however, he wasn't really feeding great white sharks or anything. They were more like giant catfish.
Today's lunch was quite a bit better. At least there is some decent meat here.
Ok, the base of the of Beijing TV Towers. They also have almost airport like security measures here including bag searches.
It has 2 of these sea dragons at the base of it.

The open air observation deck. I also took a short movie clip of what it looks like from up here.
Don't worry about jumping off, you will probably impale yourself on the protective fence first.
You may note that the North of Beijing has nicely organized blocks and high rises. Where the south is older, sparser tall buildings and more green space. It is obvious the river divides the rich and the poor.
The inside observation deck. There was a souvenir shop that by chance had Jance And The Wheeled Warriors TV boxset on VCD. A box had 13 VCDs in it for 98 yuan which is less than 8 yuan a disk, a buck something a disk.

A nice warm day outside too, unlike Shenyang.
